Oberlin Restoration Workshop
Since 1986, the VSA has sponsored a Restoration Workshop in conjunction with Oberlin College.
The workshop offered every summer with Oberlin College offers an outstanding and important
opportunity for violin and bow makers to learn methods and subtleties in the art of
making fine stringed instruments and bows. Created in 1986 by the noted restorer
Vahakn Nigogosian, and now under the direction of Christopher Germain, the program runs during
the month of July and is open to a small number of applicants. A distinguished faculty,
supplemented by renown luthiers, offers in-depth instruction with careful supervision,
teaching the diverse skills required in the making of instruments and bows at the highest level.
