Judges

The VSA is pleased to announce the following judges for the 2002 Competition. The instrument workmanship judges will be Luiz Bellini, Bruce Carlson, Joseph Grubaugh, Jean-Jacques Rampal, Wilfred G. Saunders and Samuel Zygmuntowicsz. Bow judges will be Morgan Andersen, Tim Baker and Martin Devillers.

Preliminary Information:

Rules and application forms will be mailed to members in mid-June. Updated competition information, rules and forms will be placed on the web-site, as they become available.
Only VSA members may enter the competition. Membership information is available on the web-site or by mail.

Important Dates:

November 30, 2000: Only instruments and bows made after this date may be entered in the competition.

September 10, 2002: Competitors from foreign countries who require a letter of invitation for a visa to enter the US must make their request in writing to the VSA office by this date. Please check in your own country for specific deadlines.

October 1, 2002: Competition registration forms must be received at VSA office. No one may enter the competition after this date.

October 11, 2002: Non-competitors should register for the convention by this date to receive reduced rates.

October 28, 2002: Instruments and bows shipped to the competition must arrive at the host shop.

November 11, 2002: Instruments and bows hand-carried to the competition must be checked-in by 9:00 PM. No instruments or bows will be accepted after this time. There will be no on-site competition registration.


Program:

During the competition week there will be a series of lectures, workshops, exhibits, receptions and concerts at the hotel, as well as a commercial exhibit. On Friday, November 15 the competition will be concluded and the competition instruments will be available for inspection on Friday and Saturday. The competition awards banquet will be held on Friday, November 15.

Mention “Violin Society” when making reservations. The nearest airport is the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport.
