Another new feature of this year’s meeting is an interactive presentation by Christopher Reuning, of Reuning and Son Violins. Chris will guide viewers through the important details involved in examining and identifying instruments. The presentation will be made in the style of “Antiques Roadshow” and will include a live video feed projected onto a large screen for all to see.
Be sure to bring any instruments you own that you’d like Chris to evaluate.

All makers and restorers are encouraged to bring a sample of their work.  It can be a completed instrument, bow or repair project or something that is in progress.  You will have the opportunity to show other VSA members your work and view the work of your colleagues.  This will be an informal get together which will promote questions, ideas and suggestions.  You are also welcome to bring a favorite tool or jig that you find helpful.  Please plan to be a part of this event.

8:00 PM:    Movie Premiere!
Join us in the Dulaney Valley Ballroom for the US premiere of an Italian documentary Violin Makers, The Renaissance of Italian Lutherie. Host Philip Kass, who assisted on the film, will provide an introduction and background. The documentary is 72 minutes.

An opportunity to share a drink, a conversation and open for some spontaneous instrument playing! There will be appetizers and a cash bar available.

Saturday is free for dinner in the Baltimore area.
There’s a light rail stop just outside the hotel, from which you can ride to the downtown harbor area in about 15 minutes for a nominal fee per person.


 

Sunday, November 10

10:00 AM to 12:30 PM:    International Violin Company Brunch

All attendees are invited by the International Violin Company for a Brunch at their Offices/Warehouse, as an open house event. For driving directions, please stop by the VSA Registration Desk or the International Violins Company exhibit in the Vendor Hall.
